Following two selection meetings and the monitoring of early season form the GOTAFE GVL has finalised its initial senior football squad to tackle the Ballarat FNL in the AFL Victoria Community Championships at the MCG on Saturday 19 May.
The work of Senior Coach Luke Morgan has been extensive in getting the initial squad of 33 together.
“We are very happy with the mix of players and the talent available for this year’s campaign against Ballarat” he said.
“The selectors have made contact with around 55 players about their availability for the program as well as keeping a close eye on the form of players in the opening couple of rounds.”
“We believe that we have strong representation from clubs across the League and while some players have made themselves unavailable for different reasons, we are very happy with the initial squad.”
“Seymour’s Jason Cole will again lead the League as Captain and Ash Holland from Shepparton, will be his deputy.”
“The coaching/selection panel is made up of Brad Campbell, Andrew Briggs, Brendan Vanderdonk and Sam Little and players can be added to this squad over the coming weeks with strong performances at club level.”
