Flames Sign WNBL Champion Darcee Garbin for Womens SBL 2018

The Rockingham Flames WSBL side is pleased to announce the return home of 2 time WSBL and 2 time WNBL Champion Darcee Garbin, for the start of the 2018 WSBL season before star imports Taneisha Harrison and D’Lesha Lloyd arrive.

The 6’3 forward moved to Rockingham at the age of 15, and has called Rockingham home ever since. Her last 9 months has included captaining the Australian Uni Games team to Gold under Chris Lucas, winning her 2nd WNBL championship for the Townsville Fire, and being named to the Opals squad for the Comm Games.

“Rockingham has been home for me ever since I moved to Perth and I could never imagine myself playing WSBL for anyone else” Garbin said.

“It was tough decision to leave Rockingham and stay in Townsville to play QBL last season, so when the opportunity to come home came about I could not say no. I can’t wait to be back on the floor with all the girls at the start of the season and continue building on what Ryan and the club started 9 seasons ago.”

Coach Ryan Petrik is equally as thrilled. “We talk on the phone every week, and catch up in person whenever our WNBL paths cross or whenever she’s home”.

“She always wants to know and be across our WSBL plans. And she knew I wanted to bring in 2 star imports who wouldn’t be available until late April. Once she knew that, she offered to come home and help us out until they arrive, before she has to return to Townsville”.

“The kid is just a quality act, and her last 9 months have been ultra impressive. We can’t wait to see her in her Rocko uniform once again”.

Welcome Home to the Rockingham Flames Darcee
