Held for the first time, the referees service awards were a resounding success and were very well received by those who have dedicated much of their lives to refereeing across Victorian football fields and - in some cases - on international football fields.
Amongst those acknowledged for their dedication to refereeing in Victoria were three well known Geelong based match officials.
Frank Sarcevic was presented with a Bronze Award for more than 10 years of service refereeing the game, Mal Bosnjak was presented with a Silver Award for 20 plus years of officiating in football matches, while John Findlay was rewarded for more than 30 years of referee service with a very special Gold Award.
All three have been integral members of the Geelong Referees’ Branch and have become synonymous with the local football scene.
On behalf of the FFV and the entire Geelong Region Football Committee (GRFC) a HUGE congratulations to the above mentioned and highly esteemed trio!
