The NEB FFL pathway has received a glowing endorsement with more than half of the 45 member Murray Bushrangers squad coming from the Leagues' clubs.
In total 23 players have been selected from the Leagues 7 clubs.
Thurgoona Bulldogs lead the way with 7 girls making the final cut. In a sign of the eveness of the competition all of Wodonga Raiders, Lavington Panthers and the Alpine Lions acheived 4 girls each in the squad. Yarrawonga Pigeons were next with 2 players selected, followed by the Murray Felines with 1 and the Leagues newest club, Wangaratta Rovers, also having 1 girl selected.
A great effort all round. Each club and player should be very proud.
In a further endorsement to the talent pathway 13 of the 23 players selected in the Murray Bushrangers 2018 squad have come through the AFL NEB V/Line Cup pathway in the past 2 years. This emphasises the importance of committing to club football and having faith in the talent pathway.
The Murray Bushrangers U18 girls will play a nine round season that commences on Sunday 4th of March against the Calder Cannons.
The U18 Victoria Country sqaud will be selected from the TAC Cup Country regions. Many of our local girls will be looking to impress in their TAC Cup games to give themselves the best chance of impressing Vic Country selectors. Vic Country will compete at the National Carnival which runs across May, June & July. Last year 5 girls who represented Vic Country at the 2017 National Championships were drafted to AFL W clubs, including Wodonga Raiders and Murray Bushrangers own, Iilish Ross who was drafted by Collingwood.
2018 club registrations are now open and all clubs have commenced training so if you're keen get down to your local club and have a go.
