NEWS: Local football activist overwhelmed by support for a WA Aboriginal community
LOCAL football activist Cath Sattler is helping out a small Aboriginal community school in Western Australia. During her recent tour of Australia, Cath became involved with a local school in the Kimberleys and did several soccer clinics with the school girls there whilst managing a small caravan park nearby.
The girls soaked up the soccer clinics with huge enthusiasm and for several days afterwards were asking the teachers if they could play soccer when not studying in class.
The school didn’t have any soccer equipment at all. As such, Cath tried to get a donation of 25 soccer balls to send up to the local community school so that the children can play soccer at recess and lunch time.
In the end, Cath was absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible response from the local football community!
Pictured is a haul of wonderful equipment, a donation which was organised by Brian Duncan from Geelong Rangers SC and another photo of Rob Casha (Galaxy United FC U16 coach) and local humanitarian and football activist Cath Sattler with a brand new set of shirts and shorts.
“Barwon Soccer Club’s Mark Gibbons and president Dave Rea have offered 100 soccer balls and many shirts which is just amazing, while we also received a donation of soccer balls from Dean Graham from Rangers as well,”said an extremely grateful Cath Sattler.
“A massive thanks to everyone for the overwhelming support. I’m now looking for some help from anyone who has freight contacts to help give us a discounted rate for shipping. I have funding from the school for two boxes but I’d love to be able to ship the 100 balls from Barwon as well,” concluded Cath Sattler.
