Congratulations to former Wudinna United player Harrison Petty, who has been selected by Melbourne FC at the 2017 AFL National Draft. The Draft was held on Friday 24 November 2017 in Sydney with Harry reporting to Melbourne on Sunday 26 November and starting formal life as an AFL listed player on Monday 27 November.
Harrison played his junior level football with Wudinna United, before moving to Rostrevor College in 2016. He has played 36 A Grade games for the Magpies, kicking a handy 19 goals, a good return given he played regularly in defence. 2016 and 2017 saw Harrison playing for Rostrevor College, 2017 also in the Norwood under 18 SANFL side. He came to State selectors attention early in 2017, performing at a consistently high level. Following selection in the SA Under 18 side for the AFL National Championships, Harrison played in all four games, named best in two of these, awarded the Most Valuable Player for SA and achieving All Australian Selection.
A tall defender, Harry can move forward to great effect and is a great tap ruckman. His ability to judge the ball in the air is excellent, meaning that he regularly outmarks opponents in contests.
We wish Harrison all the best as he embarks on an AFL career
