The Club Facilities Development Program established by the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League has benefited seven clubs contributing to $417,000 of facility improvement during the 2017 season.
The program, which was established by the sale of the League’s old headquarters in Dunkirk Avenue, Shepparton, has put aside $120,000 cash to support the development of club facilities.
GVL Chairman David Roff has been pleased with the use of the money by clubs this season.
“After the investment at Dunkirk Avenue had reached its maturity and the clubs decided to sell the property last year, the Board set up a fund to provide a $10,000 grant to each club via a program targeted at the upgrade of their facilities” he said.
“Specifically, we wanted the program to target facility development projects that are typically out of scope to receive funding from other Government Grants programs and the Country Football Netball Program.”
“Throughout the 2017 season seven clubs have received funding for projects such as kitchen upgrades, netball facility upgrades, electronic scoreboards and the upgrading of social rooms.”
“All of the projects have been delivered in partnership with the Club, League and local Council thus demonstrating the importance of working collectively for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
“In all, the League’s $70,000 spent so far has contributed to $417,000 worth of facility improvements which will directly benefit our clubs, their members, players, supporters and their local community.”
“There are five clubs yet to receive their funding for specific projects so in all we estimate the total program will contribute to around $750,000 of facility improvement which we believe is a very unique scenario to have a League provide such funding benefit to their member clubs.”
The projects which have received funding so far include:
- Benalla - Electronic scoreboard
- Euroa - New netball court
- Mansfield - Netball court upgrade
- Mooroopna - Electronic scoreboard
- Shepparton - Social rooms upgrade
- Shepparton United - Canteen and kitchen upgrade
- Tatura - Scoreboard, umpires rooms and away changerooms upgrade
