Running on in the final quarter at 67-all, this game could have swung either way.  “Not likely” said the Rockets, who surged in the back end of the game to win the final quarter 36-21 in their clash with the Goannas, to end the game on-top (103-88) and secure the right to host the Men’s Final Series set for August 16 and 17.  Thompson (pictured right) was outstanding for the Rockets with 26pts @ 60% from the field and 90% from the line, 3rbs, 4ast, 2stls and played alongside of a strong core five (McDade, Martin, Weigh, Scott, Dumbliauskas).  This win gives the team some breathing space for their final regular season game against the Marlins next weekend, in what could very well be a game that is replayed two weeks later as a Semi Final.  For the Goannas, this loss means the team faces a Round 16 decider against the Pirates to determine their fate.  They are jostling with the Thunder as to who will see a Quarter Final, in a race where only one team will move onto the next phase of the competition.
