NOTICE: Further details regarding upcoming NPL Junior trials for Geelong boys
ANY Geelong based junior boys who are keen to play at the elite NPL next year and are yet to register for upcoming trials with the region’s representative NPL club, North Geelong Warriors FC, are urged to do so asap, as registrations are still open. According to Igor Srbinovski, North Geelong FC’s Technical Director, the Elcho Park based club has had a great response and some big numbers are expected for next week’s Phase 1 Trials.
“To ensure that we run smoothly and on time, I have provided all the details you should need below so please read email in its entirety,” explained Srbinovski.
The details are as follows:
With the club undergoing some major improvements to facilities and the restructuring of our senior set up to promote more youth and Geelong locals, it is sure to be the biggest and best NPL season to date and we look forward to seeing Geelong's most talented players on display at next week's trials.
We are currently working very hard to lock in our junior and senior coaching structure for 2018 and I am excited to start announcing our coaching group within the next couple of weeks. It will without doubt it will be one of the best coaching groups in the state.
VENUE:
- Elcho Park, Gibbons Road, Lara.

- Parking is at the rear of the venue, please do not park in the VIP parking as it is designated to coaches and club officials attending.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Playing apparel; shorts, top, jacket, socks, shinpads and boots.
- Drink bottle
- All of your best skills and determination
TRIAL FORMAT AND INFORMATION:
- Please arrive a minimum 20 minutes prior to respective trial time so that you can register on the day and receive trial number.
- All players, including 2017 NPL players, will join in on phase 1 of the trials.
- On Wednesday the 11th, after phase 1 and before phase 2, I will be posting players number who are successful in reaching phase 2 via email. Only players will know their number and they must remember this number that will be given to them on day 1 of trials.
- After phase 2, we will notify players again via their given number through email.
- In the week following trials all successful players will receive an email outlining some important details going forward.
- Parents please ensure you do not coach from the side lines and you are well away from the playing field.
- Each player will be observed by at least 3 coaches throughout each phase of trials to ensure fairness and opportunity to be seen by multiple coaches.
- Format of trials will include: passing exercises, small sided games and big sided games to ensure a wide range of skill can be observed.
- The selection panel will include: junior and senior coaching staff, club football operation managers and technical director.
- All new players will trial with their respective year of birth and 2017 players will trial with their 2017 group unless otherwise noted between coaches and technical director.
- If you cannot attend trials, please let me know as soon as possible.
- Successful players and parents will be required to attend a compulsory information meeting at the club in early November where all relevant information of the program will be discussed. Any questions that you may have will also be answered during this information evening.
- Goalkeepers will trial with outfield players in phase 1. In phase 2, Goalkeepers will be taken aside and put through a goalkeeping session to test specific skills. On day 1 all ‘Keepers must inform me when receiving trial number that they wish to trial as a Goalkeeper.
