South Australian draft hopefuls Harrison Petty and Jordan Houlahan will put themselves to the test in the annual Under-18 All-Stars match at the MCG on Saturday.
Set to be joined by fellow Croweaters Alex Martini and Charlie Ballard, the pair will play in the curtain-raiser for the AFL Grand Final from 9.30am SA time.
Norwood defender Petty and Sturt forward Houlahan will play for Team (Corey) Enright while Glenelg defender Martini and Sturt wingman Ballard will line-up for Team (Brent) Harvey.
The Corey Enright team will be coached by the NAB AFL Academy assistant coach Brad Johnson. While the Brent Harvey team will be coached by the Western Australia Under-18s team coach Peter Sumich.
The same two coaches will also take charge of their respective sides for the Under-17 Futures Match, which will be played on Friday at Simonds Stadium from 1pm.
The Under-17 Futures match will feature a total of seven South Australians, including talented duo Jack Lukosius and Izak Rankine.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, Lukosius said he was looking forward to the opportunity to play with and against the most talented Under-17 players after his stunning Macca’s League debut for the Eagles against Sturt in the Preliminary Final.
“The Under-17s Enright v Harvey match at Simonds Stadium will give fans an insight to the players who will become household names following next year’s NAB AFL Draft,” AFL National Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan said.
“The Under-18s match at the MCG will be the final match preview of some of the most highly regarded draft prospects eligible for this year’s NAB AFL Draft.”
