Central Eyre have taken the spoils for 2017, hard won against their regular foe in recent times, West Coast Hawks.
Final margin is 41 points, seemingly comfortable, however the Hawks rallied in the third quarter to get within nine points, a huge challenge looming given they had scored the first three goals since the half time break, but as good sides do, the Centrals boys lifted to pull out to a potential match winning lead by three quarter time.
The'dogs charged out of the blocks in the first quarter, 28 points up at quarter time, and Hawks in catch up mode thereafter.
Plenty of bumps and bruises on both sides, nothing given easily, which is always the case between these two.
Central's Tasman Fitzgerald adjudged best afield, with many others also high in this voting, Jesse Stringer, Clint Winter, Zac Fitzgerald. Jared Sampson's huge leap and mark late in the Grand Final was spectacular, but could cost him a club fine given the departure from his normal duty of being a reliable and prolific ground level ball winner just to lead the highlight reel!. Ty Mc Kenna had a terrific dual in the ruck with Dylan Kelsh
As so often happens in big games,Mark Dolling heading the best for the Hawks, sparking the Hawks third quarter rivival, Kirk Montgomerie completing a great finals series, Dylan Kelsh as mentioned above tried his heart out again, Derick Freeman at the last line of defence, rise time and time again, copping some heavy contact along the way, Jake Mc Evoy with speed and creativity amd Tyson Montgomerie also playing a great game. Tyson left the game for a while to recover from a heavy hit from behind, but battled through despite being being sore.
Great game to finish the year, outstanding job by the Western Districts club as hosts of the day and a big crowd.
Congratulations to the 2017 Mid West A Grade Premier- Central Eyre
