Prime Minister's visit

We were delighted to welcome Malcolm Turnbull and The PMO to the Willetton Basketball Stadium this morning to discuss our expansion project - with many thanks to Federal Member for Tangney Ben Morton for his enthusiastic support for our club.

Ben spoke of the reasons he passionately supports our bid for expansion: that with 1100 volunteers and over 300 teams in our junior competition, but still have over 100 children on our waiting list, who cannot play basketball even though they want to, because Willetton's facilities cannot accommodate them. He said that clubs do what they do well, but some things community clubs cannot do: although over the last decade we have raised a significant amount to contribute, we cannot raise the amount of money required for such a large capital project, for this we need help. Mr Turnbull ackowledged that Ben has been tireless in canvassing federal support for this project, including handing out basketballs to every minister. He said that community clubs foster the Australians of our future instilling values like teamwork.

In addition to the official photographers, Mr Turnbull welcomed selfie requests from members and some of these have been posted to Willetton Basketball Stadium's FaceBook page
