After playing all his junior football at Shepparton United, Hill says the discussion he had with Jamison Daniels and some of other key players at Tatura are what led to him signing on.
“When they came to talk me they spoke about the opportunities and how they would help me to get those opportunities,” Hill said.
“I heard about Jammo and Joe Minutoli and how good a coach they both were.”
The 17-year-old says he feels vindicated by his decision to play at Tatura.
“I have loved my time at the club this year and I have no doubt it has helped my football,” Hill said.
He made his debut against Shepparton in round 10 and he managed to string together seven games before going back to play thirds ahead of the finals.
“I remember that game for kicking my first goal from 50 metres and also remember playing with Linc Wellington and Paul Kirby who are legends of the club,” he said.
“The atmosphere of the club made it such a good experience for me, especially the way the boys got around me.”
The Goulburn Valley Grammar School student says the fairy-tale season for the under-18s will be completed if they can defeat Shepparton today.
“From not having a team last year and playing with a group of players I had never played with has been a massive effort for us,” he said.
“We get a couple back so that should make it an interesting match because in the two games against them they’ve dominated us.”
His focus once the season is over is to build on his body size and lift his intensity to be ready to play seniors from round one in 2018
