Townsville Flames into the record books- 40 and 0

Coach of the Month Mark Wrobel led the Townsville Flames into the record books last night with a massive win over the Cairns Dolphins (126-31).  The team now holds the national State League record on a 40-game winning streak, going 1 better than the SEABL’s Dandenong Rangers 39-game run set in 1990/91.  With finals only 2 games away for the Flames, it was essential that the team ran at 100% to prepare themselves for plenty of obstacles that lie between them and back-to-back State and National titles.  With a scoreline of 47-10 at the first break, the Dolphins had no answers to the Flames 52% from the field and persistent drive to the basket.  Flannagan was unstoppable with 33pts, 5rbs, 3asts, and a massive 9stls.

In other games, the Wizards Tragardh managed a massive haul in the teams win over the Mountaineers (137-112).  With an inspiring game that see’s Tragardh with atleast one hand on the MVP Award this season, he finished the game with an ’08 League record of 67pts @ 75%, 26rbs, 11asts, which is his first triple-double this season.
