Luke Whyte would love for his Shepparton Swans to finish the season with a win to take into the pre-season.
He says the victory would show the football world what the team is capable of moving into 2018.
“It would be great to not only show Rochester but also everyone else,” he said.
The 16-year-old has had a remarkable rise after getting the nod from coach, Paul Griffiths ahead of the round five match against Shepparton.
That was his debut match and he has not missed a beat since, playing in both of the team’s victories this year.
Whyte says while the Swans didn’t win in his debut match he enjoyed the experience of playing at Deakin Reserve.
“It was still a good day even though we lost. It was good to get that first game out of the way,” he said.
“I remember not feeling nervous before the game, but more excited to get out there and play my style of footy.”
This year, Griffiths has given Whyte the opportunity to play in a variety of positions on the ground from up forward, the wing and more recently through the middle.
“I remember when I first started playing that I was a bit behind with adjusting to the pace, but know I feel I have adjusted and I’ve started to get a few more kicks,” he said.
His goal during the off-season is to build his fitness and pace so that he can remain a regular for the Swans.
