McCauliffe polled 16 of a possible 18 votes in the final five games of the season, including three in the round 14 win against TEDAS/Glengarry to claim the award from teammate Cody Macdonald.
Macdonald, who won the under-14 at last year’s count, polled two votes in the final game to finish runner up, with 19 to McCauliffe’s 20.
The count provided a thrilling finale to last night’s annual TDJFL vote count and presentation night at Traralgon’s Premiere Function Centre.
It was a night of exciting finishes, with Combined Saints’ Flynn Kennedy polling in nine straight games to win the under-14 award with 28 votes.
Kennedy’s remarkable run featured seven best-on-ground efforts, including one in the final round, as he held off Pax Hill’s Jake Healey by three votes.
Another Saint scooped the under-12 award, with Pax Hill’s Oliver Haberl tallying eight votes in the final three rounds to finish three votes clear.
Combined Saints’ Joshua Cope was runner up with 19 votes.
