Rochester youngster Will Hamilton will be indebted to two of his coaches for the opportunities they have given him over the past two seasons.
Hamilton says he owes both Elliott Bowen and James Flaherty so much – Bowen for the professionalism and guidance of what to expect from playing at the Bendigo Pioneers and Flaherty for the opportunity to play senior football.
“It is so great to be playing alongside Elliott and it is certainly getting a little easier with every game I play in the seniors,” he said.
The Year 12 Rochester Secondary College student says he has been to recover from a knee injury which kept him out of football for six weeks.
After making his way back through the thirds, a handful of games in the seniors, Hamilton then forced his way back into the Bendigo Pioneers team.
He has actually managed to play five games in the seniors this year after three in his debut season.
The 17-year-old is really looking forward to playing finals with the Tigers, but before doing that his focus will be on the team’s next two games against Echuca and Shepparton Swans.
Coach James Flaherty says Hamilton has been a really good contributor for the club when he has played this year.
“He has been a really good player in every one of the games he has played this year,’’ Flaherty.
The youngster linked up with Rochester via Colbinabbin at the start of last year.
He says his most memorable experience was last year’s final against Shepparton in which the club won to move to the third week of the finals.
