CAFL 2016 Kicks off on a glorious day for Round 1. The University Cougars Versus The Eastern Blues kicked off first. Both teams had some old faces coming back like Dave Decuevas and Joe Mildenhall for the Cougars and a lot of new players like Oscar Langridge which was encouraging. The Blues got off to a great start against the light breeze and had one way traffic in the the first half with Bowden, Johnson and Inglis getting their own way. However some late imports arrived to steady the flow in the second half for the Cougars and it finished rather more respectable. Training together for both teams will prove crucial to get some continuity.

In the replay of the 2015 Grand Final the reigning Premiers the Eagles took on the well trained Bulldogs and that was the big difference. Sporting a lot of new players the Eagles were never in the game whilst the well organised play of the Bulldogs proved practice is fundamental in growing a team.
Some rare highlights by eagles Ryan, Van Olphen and big Josh were no match for the onslaught of Bulldogs Stevo, Kyle and Jamie "kick blinders but not in front" Exeter. Some impressive marks were flying over packs or diving into the ground were great to watch by the rowdy crowd of 3276.
Make sure you come down to see the action next week or better still come and play,
