Sam Smith's brace led Gold Coast City to a crucial 3-1 win over Brisbane Olympic at Goodwin Park on Sunday evening.
The win takes GCC three points clear of Brisbane Strikers at the top of the table with just two games remaining.
Smith scored his 21st and 22nd goals of the season to all-but secure the Golden Boot.
The GGC forward's closest challenger is Strikers' Jeremy Stewart, who is sitting on 15 strikes.
Olympic threatened to blow the Premiership race wide open when Sam Cronin made it 1-1 just before the half, but GCC dismissed any nerves and overcame their hosts.
GCC take on Western Pride next week at Duncan McKenna Field, while Olympic will be in Ayr to face Northern Fury.
