Brisbane City netted a much needed 3-0 win over FNQ FC Heat at Callender Park on Saturday night to remain a point behind fourth spot.
City ran out of the blocks quicker, with Motoki Kakehi heading home from a set-piece before Nathan Bird scored the visitor's second just before the break.
City standout Samuel Sibatuara polished off the scoreline with a well placed shot just after the hour mark.
City travel to Redlands United next weekend, while Heat will aim to keep their improbable Finals hopes alive when they vist Sunshine Coast.
