Aaron Blackburn will not forget his debut game in a hurry.
The Benalla youngster got through most of the game against Mooroopna in round before he was stretchered off with slight concussion late in the game.
Luckily he didn’t miss any football, but did have a week back in the thirds to find his feet before returning to the senior team where he has remained ever since.
After starting as a forward, Blackburn did spend time in defence as part of his growth and development.
He has also spent some time rotating through the midfield of late while playing as a forward.
The Year 12 Benalla student says coach, Luke Morgan has been outstanding.
“He has been fairly good with me and told me what I need to do to play seniors,” he said.
“He also told me how I can get better, but the one thing that I like about him is he backs up things by showing you.”
Blackburn says his goal for the remainder of the season is simple – to keep getting his name on the list and perform well when picked to play.
The 17-year-old says Morgan has also given some goals to aspire to for the rest of 2017.
“He wants me to become more reliable and be on my game all the time,” he said.
Blackburn says he has gained so much from playing senior football this year and ranks Simon Buckley and BJ Squire as the two toughest opponents he has played on this year.
He rates the 2015 thirds premiership as his greatest thrill in his career.
