GEELONG SC secured its first win of the Geelong Region Women’s Division 1 season, defeating Barwon Heads 2-0 in Round 12 action at Village Park in Barwon Heads on Friday night.

The goalscorers for the northern suburbs based outfit included Angela Nikolovski and captain Emily Jovanovski.

In the other Friday night fixture, Kardinia College defeated Surfside Waves 4-1 at the Shell Road Reserve in Ocean Grove with Carly Spehar netting a magnificent hat-trick. Holly Ryan was the scorer of the other Kardinia goal, while the name of the Surfside Waves goalscorer was not submitted by the club.

On Saturday afternoon at Howard Glover Reserve in East Geelong, competition leaders Drysdale easily accounted for 5^th placed Barwon by running out 5-2 winners. Serena Clapp bagged a hat-trick to take her season’s tally to a staggering 19 goals.

Shannon Daffy scored a single to take her 2017 campaign’s aggregate to 14 while the opening goal for Drysdale was counted as an own goal. Michaela Buchanan and Jane Newberry were the scorers for Barwon.

In the final game, second placed Deakin Ducks defeated the previously third placed Surf Coast 2-1 at Banyul Warri Reserve in Torquay North. The names of the goalscorers from both sides were not submitted at the time of writing. As a result of the loss, Surf Coast drops to 4^th spot, overtaken by Kardinia College.
