Injury has curtailed the season of promising Shepparton United midfielder Adam Pigatto.
After playing the opening seven games of the season, the 17-year-old hyper-extended his knee in the heavy loss to Kyabram.
Despite his attempts to train the following Tuesday and Thursday, his knee gave way forcing into the rehab group and he is now nearing a comeback.
“I am hoping to come back against Rochester and I will try to get my hands on the footy as much as I can when I get back,’’ he said.
Pigatto is part of strong Demons junior development program and he is a leader in the making.
The Demons rated the young midfielder so highly and named him in the seniors from round one against Shepparton despite still been eligible for thirds in 2017-18.
“I filled in for the thirds for a couple of games last year,” he said.
He openly admits his debut game wasn’t great, saying the pace got to him.
“It was a big shock for me and after that game I went away and tried to work on my inside and outside part of my game,” he said.
The Year 11 Notre Dame College student says he is keen to help the club to a few more wins on his return.
Pigatto has enjoyed plenty of success, winning back-to-back flags in his final two seasons of junior football, with the highlight been the second one when he co-captained with Zane Barzen.
