In the Under 14’s Ladder leaders Port Macquarie Magpies travelled to Blackbutt Park to take on 2nd placed Wauchope Kangaroos. The first quarter started at a frantic pace with the Magpies getting of to a flying start with great play through the midfield providing plenty of opportunity for the forwards who were able to kick accurately in very windy conditions. The younger Kangaroos appeared a little confronted by the size and pace of the Magpies, at first, but started to settle late in the quarter getting some clean possessions. The second and third quarters saw a more determined effort from the Kangaroos creating a number of scoring opportunities, but with great defensive pressure from the Magpies they did not convert this into scoring points. In the last quarter the Kangaroos threw everything at the Magpies, but once again were not able to convert their efforts into points. Even though the game seemed one sided the younger and smaller Kangaroos team did themselves proud with their effort and spirit to keep fighting against a highly skilled Port Magpies team.
