Four of the regions best AFL School Ambassadors have been nominated for State Awards and will attend the State Function in Brisbane in mid-August.
The School Ambassador program aims to resource, recognise, motivate and reward teachers who strongly promote the game of Australian Football in their school and their community.
2016 AFL Queensland Secondary School Ambassador of the Year, Dan Fraser of Downland's College has been nominated for a Service to Football Award. Harristown State High School, PE Teacher Natalie Fraser has been nominated for Contribution to Female Participation.
Darling Downs School Sport Under 12's Boys and Girls Coach, and head of primary sport at Concordia College Andrew Wickes has been nominated for the Primary Ambassador of the Year. Long time Richmond Tigers supporter and from the Glennie School, Lisa Cooper has been nominated for Secondary Ambassador of the Year.
AFL Queensland Regional Manager, Jeff Neumann said all four are deserving nominees and would also be deserving winners at the State Awards Function in August.
"Dan, Nat, Andrew and Lisa are all terrific supporters of our great game and deserving nominees from the Darling Downs region," Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
"We have so many wonderful AFL School Ambassadors across the region, from Toowoomba to Roma and to Kingaroy south to Goondiwindi and east to the Lockyer Valley.
"Trying to nominate is always a tough task but we are confident that we have at least one State winner, even four, though I am bias, Neumann added.
All four Darling Downs ambassadors will head to Brisbane in mid-August and to find out who is crowned the State winners of each category.
