The Gap Women maintained their three-point lead at the top after a commanding first-half set up a 5-1 win over Gold Coast City on Sunday night.
The home side scored all five of their goals in a dazzling first 45 minutes at Walton Bridge Reserve, including two for Greta Bodey inside the opening 20 minutes.
Ruth Blackburn added to Bodey’s early brace just prior to the half hour before Megan Pride added a fourth only a minute later.
Bethany Ashton ensured the chasing pack would remain at bay by adding a fifth for Gators on the stroke of half-time.
Gold Coast did grab a late consolation when Jayde Lowe scored from the spot at the second attempt and they will hope to take their second-half momentum into next weekend’s visit of Sunshine Coast Women.
Gators, meanwhile, will visit third-placed Souths United Women in another crucial clash for their title ambitions.
