YOUNGSTER CRAVING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Seymour youngster Mitchell Waite is enjoying his learning environment as he carves out his senior career.
The 18-year-old is extremely grateful for the opportunity he is getting to play with some of the club’s greatest players in their history.
“The guys have given me a huge amount of support and so has the club,” he said.
He says his primary focus is about playing his role for the team and trying to adjust to the pace of senior football.
“It is certainly much faster, but with each game I am getting better at reading the ball, understanding the game a bit more and what’s expected from you.”
Waite played six games last year and remembers his debut game at Echuca as a memorable one for the club.
“It was the first time that we had won over at Echuca for a while,” he said.
“In actual fact a lot of the games I’ve played have been wins.”
This year, Waite has played the first six games, missing the last fortnight with concussion after he was knocked out in the loss to Kyabram.
He is expected to play today and admits that it has been hard watching the boys play during the past two weeks.
“I hate watching and just really want to play every week,” he said.
Waite says his goal is simple for the remainder of the year.
“I just want to keep improving on my game and do as much as I can to control what I can to lift the boys,” he said.
