Expression of Interest Otago NBL Franchise
Basketball Otago seeks to facilitate a Dunedin based entry into the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL), and is seeking interested parties to engage with them in the development of a sustainable operating model.
It is intended that a comprehensive application for a minimum of three years would be submitted to the NZNBL Board for consideration on completion and agreement of the franchise plan.
The Board of Basketball Otago view the re-establishment of a team in the NZNBL as a key element in both providing a pathway for our local basketball talent and strengthening the development of basketball at all levels in Otago.
To this end, it is imperative that the operating plan of the successful franchise partner is realistic and achievable in the areas of:
- Financial sustainability
- Contributing significantly to regional player and coach development
- Promoting the values of Basketball Otago and growth of the game
- Providing foresight of a 3-5 year plan
Basketball Otago is happy to work with interested parties to assist with the development of a long term franchise plan as necessary, and in doing so define the key operational areas where activities may support and benefit each party.
