Shepparton Lady Gators co-captain Jacqui Kitto has been rewarded for recent stellar performances in the Big V division two women's basketball competition by being named the Player of the Month for May.

Kitto averaged 18.5 points a game and hit all but two of her 22 free-throw attempts for the month.

The 17-year-old Gators' co-captain has been one of the shining lights in a difficult season for the young line-up.

"Jacqui has had not just a good month, but a good year," Shepparton coach Jodie Danaher said yesterday.

"She's been really consistent in every game she's played and really stepped up to the challenge this year."

The ever consistent Kitto is averaging 17.9 points a game for the season as well as 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Her best return was a 24-point, 10-rebound effort against Melbourne Uni in April.
