NEWS: Fixtures released for this weekend's Country Championships
THE final fixtures for this weekend’s Victorian Country Football Championships have been released with Morwell hosting the U12 Girls, U14 Girls, U16 Girls and U11 Boys divisions, while Traralgon will stage the Boys U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16 fixtures at Harold Preston Reserve.

The Geelong region will be represented with a record nine teams – two Girls teams (U12s and U16s) and no less than seven Boys teams (U11 North, U11 South, U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16s) – which totals 140 juniors. This is a massive increase from just three Boys teams and a total of 48 squad players at last year’s Championships in Bendigo.
This coming weekend in Gippsland, meanwhile, pool games of all the age categories will be contested throughout Saturday and Sunday, culminating in the divisional Grand Finals at both venues on the Monday afternoon.
“The excitement is really building, it really has come around quickly since we first sent out the advertisements for coaches way back in November to get the ball rolling,” explained GOFC co-director Pete Bradley, who is managing the Geelong rep squads along with his co-director Mike Chapman.
“We want everyone involved to enjoy the weekend, have fun, make new friends within the sport, play good football but also hopefully come away with a medal,” added Bradley, ahead of this weekend’s junior football extravaganza in Gippsland.
The scores from games involving Geelong teams will be regularly updated throughout the weekend on the Geelong Region Soccer News Facebook page.
