NEWS: Two more MiniRoos coaching courses to be held in Geelong in June

GEELONG will host another two MiniRoos coaching courses in June, bringing the total to seven Grassroots based courses conducted this year, an amazing reflection of the stunning growth of the game at sub-junior level being experienced throughout the region.

The first will be hosted by new club FC Leopold at the Leopold Primary School on Monday 26th of June, while less than 24 hours later the region’s NPL representative club North Geelong Warriors will host a course for northern zone coaches at its Elcho Park clubrooms in Lara.

Both courses will commence at 6pm and run for approximately three hours. Participants for the Leopold course are advised to wear runners or indoor football shoes, as the course will held indoors in the school’s gym.

Intended for coaches (and parents) wanting to train 5-9 year old players, the three hour course is fully practical and encourages the coach to develop practices that are based on fun. The emphasis is on natural development i.e. learning by playing football. No coaching but organising fun football exercises is the key to helping players build a love for the game.

Another highlight of the course is that the coaches are exposed to basic rules of the game as well as tips and hints on building a football culture in a completely practical setting, including training kids at home in your own backyard.

Now known as the ‘Discovery Phase Course’, the actual course has the same outcomes and content as the old’ Grassroots Football Certificate’, it has simply been renamed to reflect the new association with ALDI MiniRoos.

Although there is no cost to attend either of the courses, due to limited spots, it is imperative to register online before the day. To register for either of the courses, click on the relevant link below:
