Football
Shepparton is starting to really hit its straps and it looms as one of a few teams that will be challenging to knock Kyabram off for the premiership.
The Bears were very methodical in disposing of the young Swans last week and leading the way was Benjamin Davies, David Stretton, Matthew Ryan, Nicholas Allan and Matthew Shannon while James Wong was outstanding with six goals.
Mooroopna played brilliantly against Shepparton United, but couldn’t quite finish off the job.
Dean Smith, Clint Riley, Trent Freer, Lachlan Devine and youngster Kai Madgwick were busy for the Cats while Nathan Turner proved to be a good target up forward to finish with six goals.
Turner will be keen to do well, having spent some time at the Bears before deciding to move on to the Murray League before landing at the Cats this year.
Tip: Shepparton.
Netball
After dropping its first two games of the season, Shepparton has won its past four matches.
Since the inclusion of goaler Kim Commane, the Bears have been finishing with some high scores.
Morgan Gibson, Jacinta Todd and Steph Gorrie have been some of the mid-court players to feed the ball into Commane.
After four straight wins, Mooroopna has suffered two narrow losses.
Coach, Jenni McCluskey will be encouraging her girls to take the game on and it will be the likes of Ash Lancaster, Mia Fallon and Paigen Impey that will be pivotal if the Cats are to take the win.
Tip: Shepparton
