NEWS: GRFC Medical Advisory Board organised a First Aid course
A FIRST AID Level 2 course was held at Howard Glover Reserve last Saturday morning for members of the wider Geelong football community. It was the first official seminar/event organised by the recently formed Geelong Region Football Committee's Medical Advisory Board, which is promising more of the same in the near future.
Headed by renowned local podiatrist, Dr Paul Graham from Total Care Podiatry, the advisory group has managed to attract several leading experts from the health and fitness industry with the view of producing resources and facilitating forums for the Geelong region's football community.
Whether they be players, coaches, referees, club administrators or parents and friends, the Medical Advisory Board is set to release numerous resources and training/educational opportunities in the coming months with the aim of professionalising the collective approach to the sport - especially at grass roots level.
The first official event the Board organised was the Level 2 First Aid course, which included a CPR component, last Saturday morning.
FFV Strategic Development Coordinator Tonci Prusac and GRFC Chairperson Jo Plummer were two of the participants of the course, as was Dr Graham himself. Jo, incidentally, enrolled for the course along with her husband and two boys, who both actively play the sport.
The actual three and a half hour course included an online component, which was run through local training provider, Eclipse Education.
