Gold Coast City and Moreton Bay United Jets have scrapped to a 1-1 draw at Palm Beach on Saturday night.

In what was a feisty encounter, with both sides picking up multiple yellow cards, the hosts would deliver the first real chance, with the ball cleared off the line from Eoghan Murphy’s effort just 10 minutes in.

Shortly after, however, the Jets would strike, with Riley Campbell slotting home from a great Moreton Bay set piece.

Just minutes after half time the game would be turned on its head, with Jets’ Stephen Green – barely on the field for two minutes – receiving a straight red card for a hard tackle on Jaiden Walker.

Gold Coast would take advantage soon after, with Sam Smith heading home to level the scores.

The vital point sees ladder leaders Gold Coast take a four point lead over the Brisbane Strikers, who are still yet to play due to postponed fixtures. City entertain FNQFC Heat next weekend looking to keep their lead at the top intact.

Moreton Bay’s point sees them jump into fifth ahead of Brisbane City who play their game on Sunday. The Jets will travel north to take on the Fury next weekend with the top four firmly in their sights.
