The Box Hill Hawks, Northern Blues and Sandringham all recorded victories on Sunday to establish themselves in the Peter Jackson VFL top four.
Box Hill came from behind to knock off Richmond by 22 points and remain undefeated in second position on the ladder behind Port Melbourne, while Northern defeated the Casey Demons by 55 points and Sandringham pipped Coburg by 11 points in a thriller to record their fourth wins and move into third and fourth spots respectively.

The Hawks kicked 14 goals to five from late in the second quarter to overrun Richmond at Box Hill City Oval and maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Former AFL Tiger Tyrone Vickery put Box Hill in front for the first time since the opening term with a goal after the three-quarter time siren and his team wasn’t headed again.

Northern made last year’s Grand Finalists look flat from the first bounce at Preston City Oval, keeping Casey goalless until early in the second quarter. By the time the Demons kicked their second major late in the third term, the Blues had bagged 12 and held a 71-point lead to have completely killed off the contest.

Sandringham denied Coburg a maiden 2017 victory in a heartbreaker at Piranha Park. The plucky Lions held leads of 25 points early in the third quarter and 13 points approaching midway through the final term, but a burst of six goals to two after the last change saw the Zebras home.
