SBL Match Review Round 9
With a solid win over the Perth Redbacks, the Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers Women’s Team continued their unbeaten winning streak to the end of May.
The Redbacks fielded a much smaller, faster team than the one that visited the Boulevard in April and in the first half, both teams played a very up tempo fast breaking style of game with the Tigers taking a small lead into half time, 33 to 30. 3rd quarter specialist Melissa Marsh dropped in 3 from 3 three pointer attempts as part of a scoring blitz to give the Tigers a 9 point quarter time lead. Marsh continued her hot shooting with 9 points in the final quarter to finish the game with 23 points. The Redbacks threatened to take the game back in the fourth quarter with some accurate long range shooting, but the Tigers held on to win 76 to 69.
The Men’s team were beaten by 2 points in a thriller, losing 95 to 97 in a match that got away. Rob Epps did his valiant best, chipping in with 29 points and 6 rebounds but the Tigers were unable to contain the Redbacks big 3 of Ryan Neil, Kenny Harris and Jarrad Prior who combined for 70 points between them.
You can catch the Tigers this Friday at the Boulevard against the Mandurah Magic, with the women tipping off at 6.30 and the Men at 8.30.
