TALLYGAROOPNA V NAGAMBIE
This match-up will be worth the admittance fee to watch some of the region’s best netballers go head to head.
While both coaches acknowledge that banking wins early in the season remains vital, neither of them will allow themselves to get distracted by the bigger picture, which is the September action and peaking then.
Rebecca Humphrey has been playing some good netball for the unbeaten Redlegs’, while coach, Julie Telford leads by example no matter which end of the court she lines up in.
Tahla Sidebottom and Madison Brett have been two other girls that have done well for Tallygaroopna.
Sharni Lloyd, Katie Sullivan, Rachael Mundy and Sarah O’Sullivan have been some of the team’s shining lights.
The Lakers have recovered after a first day slip up against Avenel, but Abby Misti knows her girls will need to play four quarters to come away from Tallygaroopna with the win.
Tip: Tallygaroopna.
VIOLET TOWN V AVENEL
Violet Town made a flying start to the season under the new coaching set up.
The winning run came to an end last weekend when beaten by Nagambie.
Brooke Bradshaw, Rebecca Bradshaw, Ally and Sasha Chaszcziwsky have been some of the girls that have helped the team to the three wins this year.
The reigning premier hasn’t put a foot wrong, winning its three matches, including against arch rival Nagambie.
Tegan Hansen, Natalie Fletcher, Sarah Brock and Tegan Sidebottom have been some of the shining lights.
Reigning A grade medallist and premiership coach Kath Hard has only played the one game with the Swans to date, but expect her to play more often as we get into the second half of the season.
Tip: Avenel.
MERRIGUM V STANHOPE
Merrigum hasn’t been able to win a game since defeating Lancaster on the opening day of the season.
Coach, Katie Cordingley would be happy with some aspects of how they have gone in those losses and will be looking to the likes of youngster Darcy D’Augello and the experienced Chelsea Nicholson to try and assert their influence against a young Stanhope team led by the likes of Molly Breen, Michaela Fisher and Jamieson Vick.
Tip: Stanhope.
UNDERA V GIRGARRE
Undera is sitting in unfamiliar territory, but coach, Kate Muphy would be thrilled by her team’s start to the year.
At the end of the day all you can do is beat the team in front of you. Yes, Murphy knows her team are going to come up against some of the contenders in the coming weeks, but she will telling her girls to aim high.
The experience of Simone Elder coupled by some of the team’s youngsters has been great to see and they take on a Girgarre team fresh from accounting for Longwood to chalk up its first win.
Ruby Oliver, Ashlee Vick and Sheree Starling were some of the girls to contribute in the win and coach Deb McCardel will be looking for another even effort from her girls.
Tip: Undera.
LANCASTER V LONGWOOD
After a winless start to the year, Longwood travel to take on a Lancaster team celebrating after it recorded its first win last week.
Longwood will be seeking its first win of the season and the girls would have been disappointed with last week’s game.
Kait Carracher, Toni Watson and Katrina Jamison will be looking to replicate the form shown two weeks ago when the Redlegs’ went within two goals of victory.
The re-building Wombats got on the board last weekend and the likes of Leanna Couston, Sophie Davies and Eliza Grills will be looking to make it two wins in a row against Longwood.
Tip: Lancaster.
ARDMONA V MURCHISON-TOOLAMBA
Both of these teams have played better netball than their current ladder status.
Ardmona has had a draw and a win among two losses while Murchison-Toolamba has enjoyed the one win this year.
Despite that they have played some good netball as have Ardmona.
Some of the girls leading the way for Ardmona have been Brodie Lowden, Cathy McHugh and Shanara Stewart while Carly Tuhan, Alice Cunningham and Kasey Cook have been the shining lights for the Grasshoppers.
Tip: Murchison-Toolamba.
