TRFM Gippsland League netball squads have been named for the Interleague matches to take place at the Worksafe Community Championships in Woori Yallock.
After the success of the Open and 17 & Under teams Regional Victorian Netball League campaigns, where both teams were crowned premiers, they are eager to challenge themselves against Yarra Ranges' best. Yarra Ranges have an extremely strong netball program and feature a number of elite players in the Open division.
The Open team will be coached by Stacie Gardiner. The majority of the players that played in RVNL have been selected in the senior squad. While players such as 2016 Joe Hutchison A Grade best and fairest Montana Holmes, Victorian Netball League representative Ramayer Gourley and Drouin premiership players Jessie Hedley, Stacie Gardiner, April Bethune and Kym Diston have all been added to the initial squad. Reigning premiers Drouin and fellow 2016 Grand Finalist Traralgon lead the way with 5 players with Morwell (3), Moe (2) and Wonthaggi (1) also represented.
The 17 & Under side also has a strong RVNL representation. The team has been selected to compete in both the Interleague and the Association Championships which are coming up on May 28th in Traralgon. RVNL 15 & Under championship winning coach Jo Ballinger will coach the team with RVNL and Association Championships coach Krissy Travers unavailable on the day.
