Port Melbourne prevailed over Richmond by 30 points in a battle of undefeated teams in Saturday’s Round 3 Peter Jackson VFL action.
The Box Hill Hawks – set to face Williamstown on Sunday – is the only other team that can finish the weekend with an unblemished record alongside the Borough.
In today’s other games, Geelong notched its second win of 2017 against the Casey Demons by 36 points while Sandringham did the same in accounting for Collingwood by 20 points.
Werribee was Saturday’s other victorious team, the Tigers enjoying their first triumph of the season by 23 points against Essendon.

It was a hard-fought, low-scoring scrap early at Simonds Stadium, with both teams only able to manage four goals to half time. Geelong broke the game open by kicking the first three goals of the third quarter though, and went on with the job to finish with 10 majors to Casey’s four in the second half.

Sandringham piled on the game’s first five goals and went on to establish a defining 37-point advantage by half time. Werribee weathered an inaccurate Essendon during the crucial second half to prevail at North Melbourne Recreation Reserve. Trailing by 16 points at the long break, the Bombers could manage only 1.8 (14) to open the third quarter before the Tigers finally answered with two important goals before three-quarter time which kept them ahead.
