Round two of Mid West commemorates ANZAC Day, all those who have served the nation in the military, some of whom have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Matches will be preceded by an ANZAC Ceremony and medals will be awarded to the player who most exemplifies the ANZAC spirit, qualities of skill, courage in adversity, self-sacrifice, teamwork and fair play.

Joe Day and Dawn Benson achieved distinguished military service, both also long serving players and administrators of the former Streaky Bay Football and Netball Leagues
West Coast Hawks v Western Districts at Streaky Bay
The Tigers visit Streaky Bay, hosted by the Hawks. Both teams coming off of excellent first round form, and successfully unveiling new recruits. In recent times Districts have successfully lured good players inland, away from the Bay area, so some feeling in this one. Old stager Kirk Montgomerie, key tall man Derick Freeman likely in for the Hawks, while the Tigers should see Damon King O’Loughlin back.
Will the Districts boys be able to restrict the free scoring run of the Hawks? New coach Mark Dolling will be very keen to set a standard that will challenge the ‘dogs later, so expect nothing less than a Hawks outfit at full throttle. Ongoing Districts coach Scott Feltus knows that the Tigers must stay in touch for a last quarter challenge if they are to take this one out.
Tip Hawks
Central Eyre vs Wudinna United at Warramboo
Centrals have started where they left off last year, an ominous sign for the competition. Some key outs from last year but plenty of depth, and strength on every line. The Maggies fell short last week and must find goal avenues quickly to have any chance here.
Ash May takes over the coaching role from Wade O Brien at the Kennel, the May name features strongly in the successful history at the club over many years. Darryl Marshall taking over from Henry Zwar at the Magpie Nest this year.
Look for the high marking of Zac and Tasman Fitzgerald, with Jake Bruce, Jesse Stringer, Jake Sampson, Kennan Bury providing plenty of feed from the middle. The Maggies have exciting new recruits, so will know where they are at after this week. Bronte Ingomar, Brett Watkinson and Billy Campbell all good last week, the experience of Dal Waters and Neil Seaman will be at the fore.
Always something extra in a derby match
Tip ‘Dogs
Elliston vs Wirrulla at Elliston
Long old road trip this one and both teams coming off of disappointing round one appointments, very keen to atone. Daryl Lawrie takes the reigns from Troy Olsen at the Hangar, Daryl is a passionate Bomber and will be keen to notch an early win here. Grant Sleep heads up the Roosters in 2017, and has a good list at his disposal, if they all are available.
Neither of these clubs stand back, they love the hard won footy and often produce highly entertaining encounters. Bombers look to the experience of Simon Webb, Jason Henderson, Rob Holmes and Yanni Kozminski to lead the way, while the Roosters very much welcome back Jay Williams after injury last year, younger guns in Brody Kenny, Guy Hutchison and the sheer hard work of Ben Hurrell.
Elliston must look to make their home a fortress, particularly early, a win here for either side goes a long way to setting up their season
