KYABRAM v SHEPPARTON
The task for Shepparton to score its first win of the season doesn’t get any easier when it takes on the reigning premier.
After suffering somewhat of an upset loss to its arch rival, the Bears are going to need every player to beat their opponent to be any chance of defeating the Bombers.
Jacinta Todd will be pivotal for the Bears while goaler Steph Gorrie will need to make every post a winner.
Kyabram scored a crushing win over the Swans thanks largely to the efforts of Chicky Barr, Lauren Pryde, Belinda Lees and Ash Mangan.
The experience of this quartet is likely to go a long way to deciding the end result.
Tip: Kyabram.
TATURA v MOOROOPNA
Tatura scored a confidence boosting start to the year when it registered its first win since August 2015. The Bulldogs will be a competitive unit under the guidance of Molly Boyle this year.
Mooroopna bounced out of the blocks with a great win against Benalla last weekend.
Playing coach Jenni McCluskey led by example while other players to fire in the win included Paige Impey, Monique Lenehan and Maddie Dowling.
Jacquie James and Roey Johnstone were others to provide polish and drive for the Bulldogs last weekend. The Bulldogs will find a much tougher opponent in Mooroopna.
Tip: Mooroopna.
BENALLA v ECHUCA
Echuca scored a stunning win last weekend when it accounted for the much fancied Euroa outfit.
The Murray Bombers blitzed the Magpies from the opening whistle and Casey Frame will look to the team’s younger brigade to run the Saints off their legs.
Benalla was competitive in 2016 and it looks like it may take a couple of steps back this year, with the departure of some experience from the line-up.
This will give some of the younger girls more responsibility to step up to the plate.
Tip: Echuca.
EUROA v SWANS
Euroa will be eager to bounce back when it plays host to the Swans.
The Magpies were out-played by Echuca last week and there is no doubt some of the team’s star players would have been left stunned by what occurred.
Make no mistake, the Magpies are a proud bunch of girls and they will fight back with vengeance today.
The Swans were monstered by Kyabram during the middle part of last week’s game, but Shinea Sali, Kate Jeffrey and Olivia Mason tried valiantly to stem the tide against the Bombers.
They will need to play well again for the Swans to be a chance of scoring the win.
Tip: Euroa.
UNITED v ROCHESTER
After a dismal start to 2016, the Demons made the best possible start by defeating arch rival and the more fancied Shepparton.
Di Hanslow would have been thrilled with her team’s performance, especially the first game of Jess Barnes-Hill.
Barnes-Hill took the Murray League by storm in 2016 to lead Rumbalara to the grand final on the way to claiming the A grade best and fariest.
Rochester made a fabulous start by accounting for 2015 champion and last year’s runner-up.
Leading the charge in the win was Sahra Brooks, Morgan Dingwall and Clare Shalders.
The Tigers will no doubt fancy their chances, but it will be the Demons that get the win.
Tip: United.
SEYMOUR v MANSFIELD
This is likely to be a close contest, with Mansfield hoping to continue its last quarter form against Tatura.
The Lions are in re-build, having lost the vast majority of its premiership players.
The team who can capitalise on getting the ball into its attacking half will win the game.
Tip: Seymour.
