STANHOPE v AVENEL
After starting the season with a first up win over arch rival, the reigning premier returns to the court after a fortnight of no games with a double bye.
The young Stanhope team need to try and come out all guns blazing early in the contest to catch the Swans off guard.
The Swans have plenty of class across the court, with Kathryn Hard leading the way in goals.
She is likely to cause plenty of headaches for the Stanhope defenders.
If the Lions can curb her influence they stand an outside chance of claiming the win.
Tip: Avenel.
VIOLET TOWN v MURCHISON-TOOLAMBA
Violet Town has continued on from where it left off last year, winning both its opening two games in style to set up what looms as a fantastic challenge for them against Murchison-Toolamba.
After losing on the opening day of the season narrowly to Stanhope, the Grasshoppers bounced back in style to comfortably defeat first round winner Merrigum.
Meagan Hausner and Brooke Bradshaw know not to take the combine lightly if they wish to remain unbeaten while the Grasshoppers will be hoping to continue the momentum gained from last week’s fantastic win.
Tip: Violet Town.
MERRIGUM v NAGAMBIE
Both teams have enjoyed the one victory this season and expect a close contest.
The Bulldogs won on the opening day while the Lakers bounced back after suffering a humiliating loss to its arch rival Avenel in the grand final rematch on the opening day of the new season.
Abby Misti’s team was able to find its groove against Stanhope while Merrigum was out-played by Murchison-Toolamba
Expect, the Lakers to be too strong, with the likes of Rachael Mundy, Shari Lloyd and Katie Sullivan to lead by example.
Tip: Nagambie.
LONGWOOD v RUSHWORTH
After suffering a heavy loss to start the season against one of the leading contenders for this year’s title, Rushworth bounced back against Ardmona before the Easter break.
Moana Waasdorp, Rhiannon Brennan, Michelle Hanson and Lauren Schade are some of the girls leading the charge which is likely to see the Tigers be one of the big improvers this year.
Longwood gave a strong account of itself in its contest against Undera and the likes of Toni Watson, Jess Hill and Kait Carracher will be the key players in the Redlegs’ quest to open up their account for 2017.
Tip: Rushworth.
ARDMONA v GIRGARRE
Ardmona has had a draw and loss to open the season while Girgarre has suffered two heavy losses to teams that played off in the finals in 2016.
The Cats will be hoping to replicate the form they showed on the opening day of the season to try and keep the Kangaroos winless.
Tip: Ardmona.
TALLYGAROOPNA v LANCASTER
Tallygaroopna has sounded an ominous warning its opening two games of the season, crushing its opponents.
Lancaster is going through a little rebuild and has been competitive in both of its losses and Laura Thomson knows that only four quarters of netball will be good enough to match the all-conquering Tallygaroopna.
The Redlegs have so much depth and they will prove too strong for the Wombats.
Tip: Tallygaroopna.
