Allied Pickford’s Cup Fixture Teasers
AFL Darling Downs have confirmed the 2017 home and away season will commence on Saturday 22nd April for all competitions.
The full fixture hasn’t been released as of yet but a few fixture teasers have been announced for the Allied Pickford’s Cup – Division 1 Men’s competition. Toowoomba Tigers will host the Goondiwindi Hawks at Rockville Oval and Gold Park will see Coolaroo go head to head with the South Burnett Saints.
The reigning premiers, the University Cougars will travel across town to play the South Toowoomba Bombers at Heritage Oval. The Bombers will be looking for redemption after their 2016 Grand-Final loss to the Cougars, where the men from University ran out 29-point winners.

1) South Toowoomba V University @ Heritage, Toowoomba Tigers V Goondiwindi @ Rockville Oval & Coolaroo V South Burnett Saints @ Gold Park in the opening Round
2) 15 rounds of home and away footy
3) 3 week final series for the top 4
4) Representative weekend in May, for City V Country in a curtain closer following the QAFL match between the Western Magpies and Surfers Paradise match
AFL Queensland Regional Manager for the Darling Downs, Jeff Neumann said it is an exciting year ahead and everyone is looking forward to footy starting again.
“The off-season always seems to drag out and with footy only 26 days away, everyone is excited for the new season and the hopes of every team are refreshed,” Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
“It is a massive season, with representative footy, the QAFL match confirmed and of course going into our tenth year of our partnership with Allied Pickford’s, the careful movers.
“University are the hunted, after taking out the Allied Pickford’s Cup last season and will open their campaign against rivals South Toowoomba which will be an epic match,” Neumann added.
The full fixture will be released within the week and with teasers over the coming days.
“We have some pretty big announcements to make and didn’t want to release everything at once, we have exciting developments across our Women’s competition along with our youth and junior space,” Jeff Neumann said of the year ahead.
“Footy is in great shape and season 2017 is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best year,” Neumann said.
