Tigers Roar in AFLDD Women’s hit out
Reigning back to back AFL Darling Downs Women’s premiers, the Toowoomba Tigers roared in their pre-season hit-out against the South Toowoomba Bombers at Kratzke Oval on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers were relentless and cruised to a comfortable 9-goal victory over the Bombers.
For the Tigers, Mariah Pasfield and Caitlin Ireland were outstanding around the stoppages as was new-comer Jessie Gilbey who booted 5-majors in the pre-season match. For the Bombers, the hard-hitting Jessica Harvey and young-gun Taylor McCosker were superb.
Although only pre-season, Regional Manager for the Darling Downs Jeff Neumann said, both sides showed great signs ahead of the 2017 season.
“Both teams played exciting footy and the Tigers looked very polished with structures and transition,” AFL Queensland’s Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
“Toowoomba will be looking for the very rare three-peat premiership, which would be a first in AFLDD Women’s history.
“South Toowoomba were impressive though and look to be knocking on successes door with their very youthful team-list,” Neumann added.
Round 1 of the AFL Darling Downs season kicks off on April 22nd and the fixture will be released in the coming days.
