The Lockyer Valley Demons have started season 2017 in emphatic style with two wins from their two pre season games played.
The Demons have prevailed against opponents Moorooka and cross town rivals Ipswich over the last fortnight and in doing so have created a level of excitement not seen before at the club.
Newly appointed senior coach Ray Mason Cole has played a big part in the clubs reversing fortunes of late but credits the success to the maturity shown by his young group. “We have a great mix of youth and experience at the Demons this year and it’s great to see the young players stepping up when the games have been on the line”, said Mason Cole.
The Lockyer Valley’s two victories have both been by less than a goal and have been in differing circumstances. “In the opening game against Ipswich we started very strongly and controlled the game for the first 3 quarters with the Eagles coming home with a wet sail in the last quarter. Whilst against Moorooka last weekend we had to fight back after a slow start”, stated Mason Cole. “To the players credit they found a way to win in both games which is a great sign for this coming season”.
Mason Cole believes the positive start to season 2017 can be the launching pad for the clubs most successful season to date. On the back of a ramped up pre season the players are responding extremely well and are champing at the bit for the start of the season official.
