The AFL South East Commission has today released its Terms of Reference for the Review into the Competition for the 2018 season.
The Review Principles are as follows:
- To investigate and explore the senior football competition structures in the South East region that will promote the sustainability of Clubs
- To investigate and explore the senior football competition structures in the South East region that will promote participation growth
- To consider the competitive balance of the senior football competition structures for implementation in 2018.
- To consider the impact on netball in the South East region in any review findings
The Review framework is detailed in the Terms of Reference document and is consistent with the conditions under which a review can be conducted as set out in the AFL Victoria Rules (Rule 4.7)
The framework can be summarised as:
- March/April – Consultation with Stakeholders
- May – Review Panel to consider the feedback from the consultation and to issue draft recommendations by the end of May
- June – Stakeholders then have 4 weeks to make written submissions
- July - AFL South East Commission to issue final Review recommendations
The Review will also take into account feedback received during 2016 when a survey was sent to clubs asking several questions relevant to this Review. Despite being anonymous responses were received to the survey by a majority of clubs.
There will be no further comment by the Commission until the draft recommendations are released.
