Coach Chris Coyne says Bayswater City will have the utmost respect for newly promoted Mandurah City when the teams clash in the QBE Night Series final at Percy Doyle Reserve on Saturday.

Mandurah, who will compete in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues WA competition for the first time this season, have adjusted quickly to the top-flight tempo, accounting for Armadale, Floreat Athena and Joondalup United on the way to the pre-season final.

But they will face a tough test against defending Night Series champions Bayswater, who will be among the favourites to win the PS4 NPLWA this season.

Coyne, who has steered Bayswater to numerous trophies since taking the reins in 2013,  knows his players cannot afford to take their opponent lightly if they are to lift the Night Series trophy again.

“I will ask the same of the team this weekend, regardless of the match being a final,” Coyne said. “It gives us something to look forward to going into this game being the current trophy holders.

“We know it will be a tough test against Mandurah City, being a new team in the competition, and we will go into the game showing them the respect they deserve.”

The QBE Night Series decider will conclude the revised pre-season competition with the regular PlayStation 4 NPLWA season kicking off on Friday.

Sorrento will face Armadale in a playoff for third and fourth place before the QBE Night Series final.
