THREE JUNIOR LAKERS SELECTED TO COMPETE IN NATIONALS

Junior Lakers Lauren Ross, Bella Stratford and Mason Hein have been selected in the SA Country State Under 18 teams to play in the 2017 Australian Junior National Championships in Townsville Queensland from April 8th to April 15th.

All three players were key players in their respective Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup teams in Albury last month. Bella, in her first year of this age group, led the scoring for her team, averaging 14 points per game. Lauren Ross was at her reliable best in her efforts especially in the one percenters, which are not reflected on the stats sheets. Mason Hein impressed in his first experience at the Country Cup. These performances earnt him a place in the 2017 National team.

Mitch Hunter, Matt Black, Jordy Adams and Madisyn Freeman were named reserves for the teams. Mount Gambier’s Bryan Green has been appointed Assistant Coach of the SA Country Boys’ team.

The Mount Gambier contingent will travel to Adelaide each weekend for trainings in preparation for the April Nationals.
