The Casey and Melbourne Football Clubs have announced a change to the name of the Casey Scorpions Football Club from 2017 onwards, with the club to be called the Casey Demons Football Club.
Aligned with the Melbourne Football Club since 2008, the decision will see the Peter Jackson VFL club strengthen its relationship with their AFL affiliate, with Casey adopting the traditional Melbourne jumper next season.
AFL Victoria State Competitions Manager John Hook said the decision was one that reinforced the positive relationship between the clubs.
“The affiliation between Casey and Melbourne has continued to strengthen, with Casey playing off in this year’s Peter Jackson VFL Grand Final and most recently with two of the three Casey players selected in the 2016 NAB AFL Rookie Draft being selected by the Melbourne Football Club,” Hook said.
