2017 Primary School Gala Days released
We invite schools in the Hornsby region to participate in one of three upcoming Basketball Gala Days.
These days are a great experience, with everyone playing basketball games in a friendly atmosphere, where results are not the priority, but entire team involvement being the ultimate fun.
This is the perfect opportunity for your some of your newer students to basketball to “have a go” and enjoy the fun of playing with their friends against children from other schools.
Travel is minimized as all games are played at the Brickpit Sports Stadium in Thornleigh. This is a fantastic indoor venue central to all schools involved with the possibility of sharing transport means.
You can choose to participate in one of three days in 2017, these being:
Tuesday 7th November (games start 8.45am and finish by 2.45pm)
Friday 10th November (games start 8.45am and finish by 2.45pm)
**note we have limited access to courts on this day
Wednesday 22nd November (games start 8.45am and finish by 2.45pm)
Entering Teams
(1) Teams are composed of players from two years group – i.e. Year 3/4 Boys; 3/4 Girls; 5/6 Boys and 5/6 Girls
(2*) Schools can enter up to a maximum of 2 teams in each division on a gala day
(3*) Teams will be accepted on a first in basis only
(4*) We cannot fit more than 6 girls teams and 8 boys teams in each division on a gala day (i.e. 8 x 3/4 boys, 6 x 3/4 girls, 8 x 5/6 boys, 6 x 5/6 girls teams)
Due the popularity of these gala days we ask that you nominate a first preference and a second preference for your playing day as we try to accommodate everyone, but cannot fit more than 6 girls teams and 8 boys teams in each division on any given gala day.
Each each team will play 4 games (each game is 20 minutes), with the cost being just $12 per player which is inclusive of both court hire and also referee payments we have to pay to facilitate these days. To enter please email the teams you wish to enter, and the day you wish to nominate to play.
